My name is Per Nyberg, and I live in Sweden near the city of Stockholm with my wife and our two kids. I have been involved in fitness training one way or the other for almost 30 years. I first set foot in a gym when I was about twelve years old. This was in the mid-seventies, and there were mostly basic equipment – barbells, dumbbells, chinning bars – and the place had a kind of rugged, cellar-like atmosphere about it. Strangely enough, I felt right at home. I spent countless hours in that gym, and needless to say learned a lot.
Over the years, my fitness interests have shifted somewhat, but strength and conditioning work has always been a big part of my training. Since I’ve always wanted to find what works best for me, never being content with the impractical or the things that didn’t produce the results I wanted, I have tried a lot of different methods.
I have learned valuable lessons from a lot of different approaches to athletic performance and overall fitness, such as bodybuilding, gymnastics, boxing, martial arts, power lifting, etc, which have had a major influence on the way I train today - and how I look at the fitness world. I tend to look for the basic similarities rather than the differences in different methods, and have found that there are many ways to produce results.
I also feel that one of the most important aspects of fitness it that it is inclusive. Everyone is a beginner at some point – even the biggest, strongest or fastest among us. And you can begin anytime – don’t use age, injuries, lack of knowledge or anything else to stop yourself from feeling better, which is what fitness is all about. When there is a will there is a way.
Middleyouth.net is my way of trying to convey the lessons I have learned over the years, in a practical and understandable way - but how you choose to use the information in this site is ultimately up to you.
